Terra Rossa Cabernet Franc Coonawarra 2025
The Abbey Vineyard has always been a celebration of the Bordeaux varieties and their suitability on the famous terra rossa soils of Coonawarra. This release celebrates the 2020 plantings of Cabernet Franc vines in the vineyard, which you can see as you drive down to the cellar door, lined up perfectly along the lawn.
After the berries were harvested, they spent 14 days fermenting in open fermenters on skins. Gentle extraction, followed by 7 months oak maturation in large, old oak puncheons and oak eggs (that’s right, oak eggs!)
Tasting Notes
Red fruits and dried herbs continue on the palate with a soft mid palate, crunchy acid and juicy tannins.
