Parker Estate 2018 SBW #4 'Hungry Lou'

Hungry Lou is the culmination of three beautiful parcels of fruit: Barossa Valley Shiraz from the sub-region of Stonewell (sandy clay loam over limestone ) Barossa Valley Tokay from deep sandy soils in Ebenezer, and old vine Coonawarra shiraz that rests in classic terra rossa over limestone.

The moniker “Hungry Lou” is part nod to the Tokaj wine region in Hungary (from where Tokay originates) and to King Louis XV who was known to have a penchant for both wines that make up this unique blend.

Barossa Valley Shiraz (65%) and Tokay (9%) were harvested on 1st March 2018 and co-fermented for 10 days. The old vine Coonawarra shiraz component (26%) was harvested on 20th March and fermented separately, being added back to the blend at a later date. The resulting wine underwent 17 months maturation in old French hogsheads before bottling in October 2019
