Our philosophy is to uphold John Parker’s vision, focusing on the core elements that make Parker Estate superior. The most appropriate grape varieties and selections, grown on the best soils in the best locations to make the best possible wines from this exceptional growing region.” – Andrew Hardy, Chief Winemaker
The Parker Estate story is one of ambition and craftmanship. It all started with one man’s vision to defy expectations. John Parker believed that with the right patch of dirt, the right climate and the right clones, he could craft Cabernet which rivalled the greatest Cabernet in the world. He did, and we continue to do so today.
The 16-hectare Abbey vineyard which John planted in 1985 on Coonawarra’s famous terra rossa soils remains central to the Parker Estate story. With each new chapter, ongoing commitment and diligence in the vineyard ensures our winemakers, who between them have over seventy years of winemaking experience, can deliver on our mission to craft wines of excellence year after year.
Our cellar door continues to be the beating heart of Parker Estate and stands tall amongst the forty-year-old vines in southernmost tip of Coonawarra’s terra rossa soil, just north of the historic town of Penola. The iconic limestone building is home to our modern tasting room where our knowledgeable team guides you through a range of experiences that bring to life the breadth and depth of the quality Parker Estate wines are famous for.
Parker Estate continues to be family owned and is proud to be a Halliday 5 Red Star Winery, an acknowledgement of the consistency and quality of our wines.
